Well, MY plan was to touch down at the airport at 4:00 a couple Sunday's ago, and be to a special baptism service at church for 6:00. Everything was going PERFECTLY until we stopped for gas after leaving the airport. Then the van wouldn't start... I felt this immediate sense of God's presence and his full control of this funny predicament. All I could do was laugh...On that trip, I picked up a copy of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson (in a Goodwill of course). One chapter grabbed my attention and has stayed with me. A side note first ... Satan will attack us in our weakest area ... which for me is my mind and my thoughts. A quote from the book - "Have you ever noticed how uptight you feel when you're caught up in your thinking? And, to top it off, the more absorbed you get in the details of whatever is upsetting you, the worse you feel. One thought leads to another, and yet another, until at some point, you become incredibly agitated". (Oh my ... that's me all the time ..) "A powerful technique for becoming more peaceful is to be aware of how quickly your negative and insecure thinking spiral out of control. ...... The solution is to notice what's happening in your head before your thoughts have a chance to build any momentum. The sooner you catch yourself in the act of building your mental snowball, the easier it is to stop." Oh how true! I've made far too many snowballs!! I try to stop that now.
A verse that also helps with my thoughts ... Since the Lord is directing our steps, why try to understand everything that happens along the way? Proverbs 20:24
